Adding Your Reunion Pictures to the Website
The World Wide Web makes it possible for us to use our digital cameras to very quickly share with our fellow classmates some photographs from the 35th reunion and other OHS68 events.
There are 2 ways for you to get your digital pictures to us for inclusion on the website:
If you have a *lot* of photos, then the preferred method is for you to burn all of them onto a cd, then mail it to us -- see below (#2) for more info about that;
...or...
You can follow the directions at #1 immediately below and upload them yourself to the OHS directory. This method requires you to have some basic computer/graphic editing skills -- if so, it will only take a couple minutes.
As our time allows, we will individually add the pictures from the cd's or from the uploading to OHS68.com pages for everyone's enjoyment. I'll do the required image preparation and will let you know when the pictures are on the website ready to view.
We do have one very important request however...
Please do *NOT* email us any images!!
Our email filtering software is configured to zap all graphics, so it will simply delete whatever is sent, and we won't even see them.

Method 1 -- Uploading the digital photos
In order for this uploading to work properly, you must do it correctly (it's real simple, however it might be helpful to print out this page for ongoing reference). If you've done any graphics work at all, you'll find this extremely easy, as there are only 2 changes that you are doing: re-sizing & re-naming each image prior to uploading. That's all there is to it.
[Note: If you work on Windows and need a free graphics editor, you can click here;
If you are working on a Mac and need a free editor, click here]
Here is the direct uploading procedure:
- To start, view your pictures on your own computer so you can eliminate the ones that are too dark or out of focus. Note that when you use this upload feature, your pictures are NOT actually removed from your harddrive -- it is a copy that is placed in the OHS directory.
However if you intend to do any graphic manipulation of your photos (resizing, retouching, etc) it is always a good idea to first make copies of the originals, and save them into a separate folder called something like "OHS Pics". That way, your masters will be untouched.
If your photos are in focus and only a little too dark, please DO send them, as I can lighten them in PhotoShop!
- We are initially asking everyone to only upload 8 images. If you have more than 8 good shots available, then we'd be happy to have you add additional ones after we retrieve the first set.
- The perlscript we are using for this uploading feature will allow you to upload in the .jpg format only (lowercase). Therefore, .jpeg will *not* work; nor will .gif, .bmp, .tiff, .pict, or .png. Almost all digital cameras can save the images as .jpg's -- just make sure it is lowercase, and not .jpeg (if it is, you can easily re-name it).
- Name each image in this manner: yourlastname1.jpg ; yourlastname2.jpg ; yourlastname3.jpg ... etc. Example: reynolds1.jpg ; reynolds2.jpg. Note that it is all lowercase with NO spaces.
- If you followed the instructions above, then each of your digital photos will most likely be well under 100k in size. (NOTE: The upper-end allowable file size limit per .jpg for uploading is 240 KB).
- If you have your first eight images in your "OHS Pics" folder on your own harddrive, then whenever you click one of the "Browse" buttons below, you should navigate directly to that folder and select one of your .jpg photos. You can do all 8 of the pictures, then press "Submit" just one time.
(Important Note! If you get an error message or one that says "invalid referrer", then temporarily turn off your firewall for a few minutes).

If it works the way it is suppose to, you will be redirected to a "successful upload" page -- that's all there is to it.
Method 2 (preferred) -- Mail a CD:
This is probably the easiest approach, so if you find that you are not yet comfortable doing graphic edits, then you can burn as many reunion pics to a CD as you want and send them directly to me.
You do not need to do any graphic editing whatsoever -- the CD files can be in any graphic format, at any file size, and with any names (use an inexpensive CD-R rather than a CD-RW, as we'll be keeping these for the OHS "archives"). I'll go through your selections and will handle all the necessary adjustments. Please postal mail to:
Steve Reynolds
1501 Trace Creek Road
Hamlin, WV 25523
(Once again however -- Please do not email us any photographs!)
If you wish to include a document on the CD that describes the various images, then certainly do so. For example, you could say who it is that is on each picture. This is just an option, not a requirement.
I work on both Windows and Macs, so whatever is good for you works for me. If you do include a text document, it is important to use a word processing program that is in common usage. If you have any questions about any of this, send me an and I'll try to help you.
 Thanks very much for offering to share your pictures with your classmates -- for any of the OHS alumni who were unable to make it to this 35th reunion, it will be great fun to see everyone again on the photo gallery pages ... and the truth is, a better looking group would be hard to find!
